Liquid Handling
Pipettes, pipette tips, serological pipettes, robotic tips, and dispensing accessories for manual and automated liquid transfer workflows.
Manual vs. Automated — Choosing the Right Format
Manual pipetting uses single-channel or multichannel pipettors with disposable tips. Best for low-to-medium throughput work where flexibility matters. Automated liquid handling uses robotic platforms (Hamilton STAR, Tecan EVO, Beckman Biomek) with specialized conductive or non-conductive tips for high-throughput workflows. Serological pipettes handle larger volumes (1–50mL) for cell culture and reagent prep. Choose based on your throughput, volume range, and sterility requirements.
Which tip format is right for you?
| Tip Type | Volume Range | Best For | Features |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard Tips | 0.1–1250µL | General pipetting, reagent transfer | Universal fit, low retention option |
| Filter Tips | 0.1–1250µL | PCR, sensitive assays, biohazards | Aerosol barrier prevents cross-contamination |
| Sterile Tips | 0.1–1250µL | Cell culture, aseptic technique | Pre-sterilized, DNase/RNase free |
| Low-Retention Tips | 0.1–1250µL | Viscous, protein-rich, or precious samples | Hydrophobic surface reduces sample loss |
| Robotic Tips | 10–1000µL | Automated liquid handlers | Platform-specific fit, conductive option |
Use filter tips whenever you're working with PCR templates, infectious agents, or volatile organics. The aerosol barrier in the tip prevents contamination from entering your pipettor shaft — saving you from costly decontamination and false positives.
Liquid Handling FAQ
Our tips are universal-fit and compatible with Eppendorf, Gilson, Rainin, Thermo Fisher, and most other major pipettor brands. Check the product page for specific compatibility notes.
Racked tips come pre-loaded in tip racks for easy one-handed loading. Bulk tips are loose in bags — cheaper per tip, but you load them manually. Racked tips are faster and maintain sterility better.
Yes. We carry automation-compatible tips for Hamilton, Tecan, Beckman Coulter, and other major platforms. Conductive tips are available for platforms that use liquid-level detection.
Yes. Our sterile filter tips are certified DNase-free, RNase-free, and pyrogen-free with lot-specific certificates of analysis available on request.
