🛡️When to Use Filter Tips
Filter tips contain a hydrophobic polyethylene frit inside the tip that blocks aerosols and liquids from entering the pipette barrel. Use filter tips for all PCR work, cell culture, RNA handling, and work with biohazardous or radioactive materials. The filter prevents cross-contamination between samples and protects your pipette from internal contamination.

Universal Pipette Tip FAQ
Yes. Our universal tips fit Eppendorf Research, Research Plus, Reference, and Reference 2 series pipettes. The standard shaft diameter ensures a secure friction fit. Note that Eppendorf also offers their proprietary ep Dualfilter T.I.P.S. line, but universal tips provide equivalent performance at a lower cost.
Low-retention tips have a surface treatment that minimizes liquid adhesion to the inner wall of the tip. This is critical when pipetting viscous solutions (glycerol, Tween-containing buffers), protein solutions, or surfactants that would otherwise leave residual volume clinging to the tip wall, reducing accuracy and wasting sample.
Racked tips are pre-loaded in racks, ready to use, and available sterile. Reload inserts are refill stacks that drop into your existing racks, reducing plastic waste and cost. Bulk tips are loose in a bag and the most economical option, suitable for non-critical applications where sterility is not required.
Yes. Our larger volume tips (200 µL and 1000/1250 µL) are available with molded volume graduations for approximate visual volume verification. These graduation marks are not a substitute for calibrated pipette settings but help confirm you are in the right volume range.
Yes. All sterile tips are manufactured in a cleanroom environment and certified free of DNase, RNase, DNA, pyrogens/endotoxins, and PCR inhibitors. Each lot is tested and ships with a certificate of quality. Sterile tips are gamma-irradiated or UV-treated for assured sterility.
