How many reactions are in the kit?

What are the targets?

  • Acinetobacter Baumannii
  • Bacteroides Spp
  • Citrobacter Freundii
  • Citrobacter Braakii
  • Enterobacter Aerogenes
  • Enterobacter Cloacae
  • Escherichia Coli
  • Enterococcus Faecalis
  • Enterococcus Faecium
  • Klebsiella Oxytoca
  • Klebsiella Pneumoniae
  • Morganella Morganii
  • Psuedomonas Aeruginosa
  • Proteus Mirabilis
  • Proteus Vulgaris
  • Staphylococcus Aureus
  • Streptococcus Pyogenes

What is the shelf life of the kit?

The kit is valid for 12 months after the manufactured date and should be stored frozen at -20±5°C.

How many controls should I run on a plate for my clinical samples?

We recommend running at least 2 sets of positive and negative controls in case one set fails

A set refers to running a positive and negative control for every PCR mix included in a detection panel.

Why are there five reaction mixes?

Each of the 17 targets are split up into five reaction mixes. Patient samples and controls are run on each reaction mix so that all targets can be detected.

How many patient samples can I run on a single plate?

  • 96 well plate: 17 patient samples
  • 384 well plate: 74 patient samples
*Running 1 positive control and 1 negative control for each PCR mix. We recommend 2 sets but you only need 1 set to maximize your samples per plate.

What is the estimated run time of the method with this kit?

The method is estimated to be about ~60 minutes. Some thermal cyclers will vary in the duration of the method.

What is the Limit of Detection (LOD) for this kit?

This kit has a sensitivity as low as 1 copy/uL, but will vary depending on your thermal cycler.

What dyes should my thermal cycler be calibrated for?

FAM, JOE, ROX, Cy5

What is the stability of the prepared PCR plate?

It is best to prepare your plate and reagents as needed and not to let it sit at room temperature for extended periods of time. You should avoid storing the PCR reaction if possible; if it is needed, store the PCR reaction at -20°C for up to 30 minutes.

What are quantities of control and PCR mix?

  • Positive Control: 500uL
  • Negative Control: 500uL
  • PCR mix (5 total): 1.5mL each

How many freeze-thaw cycles can this kit do?

5 freeze-thaw cycles max.

Will this detection panel work for our lab if we only run a few samples per day?

Yes, we recommend aliquoting out the reagent based on your lab's sample volume to avoid unnecessary freeze-thaw cycles.
